Protecting Our Schools
Mia will never stop fighting for every person's right to make their own decisions about their body, their health, and their family.
Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, California has become a refuge for people across the country seeking reproductive healthcare. Mia is committed to keeping it that way — and to strengthening protections here at home. As Chair of the Assembly Health Committee, she has direct influence over California's reproductive healthcare policy, and she's using it.
Reproductive justice means more than abortion access. It means the freedom to start a family, access maternal care close to home, afford contraception, and raise children with dignity and support. Mia has fought for all of it.
Recent Legislation
AB 50 — Equity in Birth Control Act: Expanded over-the-counter birth control access for Medi-Cal recipients — ensuring cost is never a barrier to contraception
AB 55 — Freedom to Birth Act: Streamlined birth center licensure to expand maternal care options and give families more choices about where and how they give birth
AB 224 — Essential Health Benefits: Expanded Medi-Cal coverage to include fertility services — because the right to build a family shouldn't depend on your income
AB 1975 — Food as Medicine (vetoed): Fought to make medically supportive food and nutrition services a permanent Medi-Cal benefit for patients who need it most
