Healthcare: Defending What We've Built
As Chair of the Assembly Health Committee, Mia is California's front line against federal attempts to gut Medi-Cal, eliminate healthcare protections, and leave millions without coverage.
Healthcare is a human right — and right now, that right is under attack. The Trump administration is pushing to slash billions from Medi-Cal, which covers more than 14 million Californians. Mia is fighting back through her committee, holding hearings, advancing legislation, and building the case for why California must protect what we've built.
Mia is also focused on the healthcare gaps that affect East Bay families most: mental health access, maternal health, reproductive care, and the hidden costs that force families to choose between medical bills and rent. She has advanced legislation to eliminate out-of-pocket costs for patients under 21 and to strengthen patient privacy protections in the age of AI.

AB 1415 — OHCA: Established private equity oversight in health systems to protect patients from corporate consolidation
AB 2161: Stops disproven Medi-Cal work requirements that would strip coverage from vulnerable Californians
