Economy & Small Business
A strong economy works for everyone — not just the well-off and well-connected. Mia is taking on the banks, corporations, and systems that have rigged the rules against working Californians, while fighting to make sure East Bay small businesses and workers have a fair shot.
Vacant storefronts, high operating costs, and barriers to capital are pushing small businesses — especially minority- and women-owned businesses — out of Oakland. At the same time, corporate consolidation is squeezing workers and communities across California. Mia believes state government has a responsibility to level the playing field, and she's using her seat to do exactly that.
Mia's Economic Priorities
Making corporations pay their fair share so there's funding for the services families depend on
Cracking down on redlining and expanding capital access for minority- and women-owned businesses
Standing up to corporate consolidation that squeezes out local businesses and workers
Investing in workforce development and job training in the East Bay
Fighting federal cuts to programs that support working families and small businesses
