Mia Bonta believes in

Immigration & Community Protection

Mia believes every person in our community deserves to live without fear — and she's fighting to protect East Bay families from federal overreach and unjust deportation.

Oakland's immigrant communities are a cornerstone of our city's culture, economy, and strength. Right now they are under direct attack. The Trump administration is deploying federal agents into California communities, separating families, and targeting the organizations that serve immigrants. Mia has been unequivocal in her response: California will not comply, and she will not back down.

She also understands that immigrant communities' safety is everyone's safety. When people fear calling the police or accessing services because of their immigration status, whole neighborhoods become less safe. Mia supports policies that build trust between law enforcement and communities — so that every resident can seek help, report crime, and participate in civic life without fear.
